Dec ’99 – May ‘01 Home Office – IND, “Consultant without Portfolio”

For the Immigration and Nationality Department in Croydon in the high-profile arena of Asylum processing.

Involving business analysis, project management to PRINCE2, change management, BPR, MIS development, system roll-out & training, initial short-term contract reviewed and renewed several times. Member of a small multi-disciplinary business team pro-actively addressing tactical business & technical issues producing business cases and implementation plans as required.

Effectiveness achieved through understanding of business objectives, strategy & tactics – and supporting processes. Excellent working relationships with DDG & Directors/Assistant Directors of Asylum & Removals groups, as well as line-managers and individual team-members.

Achievements & Deliveries:
  • Set up and chaired Asylum Workflow Management Group at Director & Assistant Director Level.
  • Resolved technical/operational conflict effectively releasing ~100 people in each of IND and NASS.
  • Designed, developed & delivered evolving Excel based reporting products (with extensive VBA).
  • Generated well-received user & technical documentation; delivered formal & informal training.
  • Modelled operation of planned “Removals Directorate” and process effectiveness towards government targets..
